safety first, always. No ifs, no buts.

At Vision Early Learning, your child’s safety comes first. We follow the 11 Victorian Child Safe Standards to create a safe, inclusive and caring environment. We uphold these standards across our centres and maintain a zero tolerance policy for abusive behaviours.

1. Culturally Safe Environments

We create respectful, inclusive spaces where children of all ethnicity and backgrounds feel seen and valued. We respectfully acknolwedge the traditional custodians of the land – the Aboriginal and torres Strait Islander peoples – and pay our respects to the elders past, present and emerging.

2. Leadership and Culture

Child safety is championed at every level of our service. Our leadership team ensures child safety is always on the agenda and that staff have the training and resources to put it into action.

3. Empowering Children

Children are encouraged to speak up and share how they’re feeling. We use age appropriate tools like story time, drawings, and a ‘worry box’ to help children express themselves in ways that feel safe and natural.

4. Partnering with Families

We keep families informed and involved from day one. You’ll receive our Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy and regular updates. We also host yearly family information sessions on topics like online safety and protective behaviours.

5. Respecting Diversity

Every child’s needs are different. We support children with disabilities, from diverse backgrounds, and those with additional vulnerabilities through personalised learning and communication strategies tailored to each child.

6. Safe and Trusted Staff

All our staff and volunteers go through thorough screening, including Working with Children Checks and reference checks that focus on child safety. We only hire people who are committed to creating a safe environment for children.

7. Easy, Child-Friendly Complaints Process

We make it easy for children and families to speak up if something’s not right. Visual prompts help children know who they can talk to, and our team responds with care and urgency.

8. Staff Training

All staff receive regular training on child safety, mandatory reporting, and how to recognise signs of harm. We use real-life examples and scenarios so everyone knows how to respond confidently and appropriately.

9. Safe Physical and Online Spaces

We check our indoor and outdoor areas daily to make sure they’re safe. Online, children are always supervised, and we use child-safe search engines and filtered content to protect them.

10. Ongoing Reviews

We constantly review how we’re doing. Feedback from families, staff, and children helps us improve, and we take action after incidents or near-misses to make sure they don’t happen again.

11. Following Through

We don’t just talk about safety – we live it. Our leaders regularly check in on daily practices, like nappy changes and play supervision, to make sure they match our policies and uphold every child’s dignity.
